Match report by Ron Stickney:

The Seattle Sounders scored at will against the Liga Latino All-Stars. Typical of all-star teams, there was not a lot of defense played by Liga Latino. The match was ended 5 minutes early to end the rout. Trialist Josh Houle had a hat trick in each half, and Nick Kalafatich had a hat trick within 17 minutes after entering at halftime. A year earlier at the same stadium, the Sounders had beaten the Liga Latino All-Stars 4-0.

First Half

Simon Tessen took a nice shot early for the Liga Latino All-Stars, forcing a fingertip push over the bar by Bill May. But from then on it was all Sounders. We'll just mention the goals here, there were so many.

13' Gregor (Jenkins). Scott Jenkins sent a forward pass to Andrew Gregor on the offside line. Gregor went around his marker with the first touch and was off to the races, putting a low shot past the onrushing goalkeeper Antonio Resendez.

20' Houle (Nguyen). Viet Nguyen crossed from the right to the far post, where an unmarked Houle nodded it in.

24' Houle (Nguyen). From a corner kick play, Houle headed in Nguyen's cross from the left.

33' Brown (Gregor). Chad Brown headed in Gregor's corner kick from 6 yards out.

45' Houle (Kinoshita). On a free kick play on the left side, Gregor ran past the ball toward the goal line and Nguyen rolled the free kick to Gregor. Gregor crossed past the far post, where Kei Kinoshita headed the ball back across the 6-yard line and Houle knocked it in for his hat trick.

Halftime:  Seattle 5 - 0 Liga Latino

48' Kalafatich (Howes). Greg Howes' cross from the right was headed in by Kalafatich, who had come on at the half.

60' Kalafatich (Wood). Brian Wood's feed gave Kalafatich a shot up the middle, sent just inside the right post.

62' Kalafatich (Gregor). Gregor was sprung up the left side and curled a cross into the path of Kalafatich on a run up the middle. Kalafatich scored from the spot to earn his quick hat trick.

73' Brown (Wood). Brown took a pass from Wood on the left side and tried to cross the ball but it found the top far corner off the fingertips of the goalkeeper.

78' Houle (Storkson). Erik Storkson carried the ball into the penalty area, drew the last defender, and passed square to Houle, who got past the keeper with a feint and finished into the empty net.

79' Houle (Storkson). Storkson was put through and the keeper blocked his shot, but the rebound was an easy tap-in for Houle.

84' Storkson (Houle). Storkson was put through from the offside line and with no defenders giving chase he beat the keeper and scored. Storkson has scored one in each of the four preseason matches thus far.

85' Houle (Barton). Kieran Barton's shot from the right was saved, but the rebound again rolled to Houle for a tap-in and his second hat trick of the match.

The 13 goals was the most ever for the Sounders in a preseason match.
