The Seattle Sounders Select tied the Abbotsford 86ers 0-0 in overtime at Seattle Memorial Stadium. Neither team could score in 110 minutes of play. The Sounders Select ended a six-match losing streak dating back to June 24, however continue a seven-match winless streak. The Select had three shots go off the posts.

Seattle had the best scoring chances of the game. Select newcomer JP Capodanno had a hard shot bounce off the post in the 8th minute. Capodanno is a Federal Way native who has played for the Willamette Valley Firebirds and was a draft pick of the A-League Sounders this year.

Select midfielder Chris Farnsworth missed a penalty kick in the 28th minute. Farnsworth's penalty kick hit the left post. 86ers' goalkeeper Craig Parmenter fouled Capodanno, setting up the penalty kick.

Abbotsford best chance was in the 43rd minute. Select goalkeeper Jonas Tanzer turned a hard attempt away with a great diving save off a shot by 86ers defender Brian Vanshagen.

In the 59th minute Select forward Manuel Ruiz had a shot go off the right post after a feed by Chad Brown. The Select also had the best scoring chance in overtime. In the 92nd minute, off a Select corner kick, Select defender Bryn Ritchie had a header shot that was past the Abbotsford goalkeeper. 86ers defender Cody Barker-Greene was able to clear the ball off the goal line.

Abbotsford goalkeeper Craig Parmenter (8 saves) and Select goalkeeper Jonas Tanzer (4 saves) both earned shutouts.

The Yakima Reds have extended their lead to Northwest Division to nine points over Seattle in the Northwest Division.

Injury Update:
Select midfielder Scott Burcar, who suffered a knee injury in the second half of the game last night at Spokane, suffered a Grade One medial collateral ligament sprain in his right knee. He is expected to miss two to three weeks.

I thought we played our best game in awhile. We were able to control play. We had some scoring chances but were not able to capitalize. However the tie is something we can build upon, as we try and make the playoffs.
