Match report based on the report from the Sounders Select:

The Seattle Sounders Select lost 5-1 to the Abbotsford 86ers in a Northwest Division Premier Development Regular Season match played at Rotary Stadium in Abbotsford, BC. Forward Joe Scigliano and midfielder Iain Sneddon both had a goal an assist each to help their team to victory. After winning their first nine matches to start the season the Sounders Select losing streak is now at five matches.

Abbotsford opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Jordan Gillespie scored off the rebound from a blocked penalty kick, which was first saved by Select goalkeeper Jonas Tanzer. Shawn Blakeway extended the lead to 2-0 when he scored in the 27th minute. The Select got their lone goal in the 43rd minute when Bryn Ritchie, who returned to the lineup after serving a one-match suspension, scored assisted by Mark Hogenhout.

Trailing in the second half, the Select tried to open things up, but that idea didn't work. The 86ers scored three goals in a fourteen-minute span to put the match away. Abbotsford goals were scored by Dave Evans (61st), Iain Sneddon (73rd) and Joe Scigliano (75th).

Select players Ian Chursky (stomach) and Chad Brown (leg) had to leave the game early because of injuries.

Post Game Quotes - Select Coach Gerry Gray:
We played well in the first half. Abbotsford was able to get control of the game in the second half. Even though our losses recently have not shown it, we have been playing better. You don't want to lose games, but our play has been better of late.

86ers General Manager Barry Crocker:
It feels nice to be able to turn things around record wise. We were able to play well in patches. The idea for us is to develop players for the big team (Vancouver 86ers). It is nice to turn a good performance though, it's good for the program.
