Match report by Ron Stickney:

In a shortened exhibition match that started an hour and ten minutes late, the Seattle Sounders Select Women beat the Vancouver Angels 4-0. Well, it wasn't really the Angels, but rather a team pulled together by the Angels' management. Sanya Trandum and Tari Beck scored in the 30-minute first half and Brenda Mueller found the net twice in the 30-minute second half.

The match was started late because Vancouver were just plain late with their departure.

New players for the Select were goalkeeper Amanda Fox and midfielder Laurie Klein.

First Half

Seattle dominated the match, as Vancouver never managed a single shot the whole match.

Tara Bilanski took the first shot in the 7th minute, a free kick from the top left corner of the penalty area that just cleared the crossbar and settled on top of the net. Bilanski had scored from a free kick from there the previous match.

8' Trandum (Hardy). Karen Hardy's short pass to Trandum above the arc was touched to the side and fired into the lower far corner from the right end of the arc. Seattle 1-0.

Jen Birks nearly had a goal when goalkeeper Sam Reeder fumbled a corner kick and Birks shot the gift on goal, but a defender on the goal line headed the ball away.

28' Beck (Skinner). From the left side, Jenny Skinner dropped a diagonal ball for Beck, who was on a run up the middle. Beck's 25-yard shot to the lower left corner went in off Reeder's fingertips. Seattle 2-0.

Halftime: Seattle 2 - 0 Vancouver

48' Mueller (Klein). In her second minute playing for the Seattle Select, Laurie Klein earned an assist when she crossed from the left side of the penalty area to Mueller, who was just inside the 18-yard line. Mueller touched the ball towards the spot and put her shot in, glancing it off the inside of the far post. Seattle 3-0.

55' Mueller (Hardy). On a counterattack, Hardy carried the ball up the middle with Mueller running square on the left. Hardy drew the last defender and put the ball nicely in front of Mueller, who dribbled in and put a low shot past the advancing Reeder from 12 yards. Seattle 4-0.
