Match report by Ron Stickney:

Playing their second match in two evenings, the Seattle Sounders Select comfortably beat the visiting Okanagan Predators 3-0. Before taking their first shot, Seattle took an early lead when defender Morgan Marrs headed in an own goal from a Seattle corner kick. Joe Watson and Abbas Faridnia added goals for the final margin.

First Half

5' Marrs own goal. 3 yards from the near post, Marrs headed Billy Sleeth's right-sided corner kick cleanly inside the far post. Seattle had not yet taken a shot. 1-0 Seattle.

A minute later Sleeth was cautioned on the match's first foul when he pulled down a defender, and that would be the last card from referee Mike Fox this match.

Okanagan's first chance came in the 7th from a 30-yard free kick, put low to the far post by Justin Boersma, where goalkeeper Carlos Castellanos made a diving save.

Seattle's first shot came in the 17th when defender Kurt Ness carried from his own end and earned a 25-yard shot, sent 2 yards too high.

For Okanagan, Sam Wingham battled for a loose ball and earned a 25-yard shot from the left, but sent it right at Castellanos.

30' Watson (Barber). Barber's long cross from in front of his team's bench to the far post found Watson, who bent down to head the ball sharply in, glancing off the close post. 2-0 Seattle.

The rest of the half was all Seattle. Sleeth got by a defender at the right edge of the penalty area and carried at goal with goalkeeper Steve London stuck at the near post, and Sleeth's 6-yard shot was leg-blocked by London, conceding a corner kick. Chris Farnsworth was set up for a 15-yard shot up the middle, sent a half yard wide of the lower right corner. From Sleeth's drop in the 43rd, Watson's 30-yarder up the middle missed the lower left corner by half a yard. A minute later another Watson 30-yarder was sent to the same place. Sy Reeves took a 25-yard shot from a short free kick pass, but a defender slowed the shot for an easy save by London.

Halftime: Seattle 2 - 0 Okanagan

Seattle's Greg Foisie was nearly sprung up the middle to open the second half, but London slid out to clear the ball from the 18-yard line just before Foisie could reach it. Reeves won a long ball over the defense and fired from 20 yards, but right at London.

Brandon Sewell replaced Castellanos in goal at 62' and immediately was tested. Laurent Scalagine's 25-yard free kick from the left was sent low through the crowd, but Sewell was there for the save.

A wall pass gave Seattle's Ness a shot from a steep angle on the left that hit the near post and went out. Substitute Faridnia fed Farnsworth on the right for a 12-yard shot that London pushed over the bar with one hand. On a corner kick, sub David Ludwin headed at the bottom near corner, but the man at the post poked it wide for another corner.

In the 71st, Okanagan's Scalagine got free for a 4-yard shot from near the right post, and Sewell made an outstanding reaction save to parry the ball up, then a defender cleared the rebound from in front of the goal, and Okanagan would have no more good chances.

All Seattle the rest of the way, as first Faridnia served Reeves for a 10-yard header from the right, caught at the near post by London. Farnsworth got open at the 18-yard line but his curled shot missed the top far corner by a yard.

86' Faridnia (Raymond). Soon after Chris Raymond entered the match, he was sprung on the left, then he used a feint to get in close to goal. Raymond rolled a nice square cross for Faridnia, who was running straight up the middle. Faridnia forced the ball under the collapsing London to score from 5 yards. 3-0 Seattle.

Seattle had a few more chances at the end. Ludwin sent a ball into the penalty area for a close shot by Stauber, then a rebound shot by Ludwin, both block saved by London. Raymond's header from a corner kick was kicked away by a defender at the far post. Farnsworth was served on the right for a 12-yarder, saved by London at the lower near post.
