Match report by Ron Stickney:

Again the Calgary Storm outplayed the Seattle Sounders Select on Seattle's home pitch, Calgary winning 2-1. First Half

Seattle had the initiative early. A long serve to the arc by Billy Sleeth in the 9th minute was headed on goal by Greg Foisie, saved overhead by Lars Hirschfeld. At 18' Zach Kingsley shot from the top of the arc, but right to Hirschfeld.

Calgary's first shot was in the 19th, a 25-yarder up the middle by Nicolas Reyes, right to goalkeeper Carlos Castellanos.

For Seattle, Ben Somoza's 40-yarder forced a save by Hirschfeld.

For the last 15 minutes of the half, the momentum shifted in favor of the Storm. From a free kick play, De Silva hit the side netting from 10 yards on the left. Nicolas Zuniga, in the match early as a substitute, forced a save by Castellanos. In the final minute, Munoz fired a rocket from 35 yards, blocked and then collected by Castellanos.

Halftime: Seattle 0 - 0 Calgary

49' Jesic (Reyes). Calgary struck quickly to open the second half. Jesic received a pass from Reyes at the arc and beat Castellanos with a low shot that went in off the base of the far post. 0-1 Calgary.

A Calgary free kick from 25 yards was centered and Jesic shot nicely at the top right corner, but Castellanos leaped to push it over the bar for a corner.

53' Munoz (Newmarch). A Calgary corner kick was passed in to Brian Newmarch near the right post and he sent a short, square pass to fellow defender Munoz near the left post, and Munoz found a gap in the defense at the line to hit the net. 0-2 Calgary.

The next minute, Seattle's James Vert roamed unmarked into the area on the left for a shot, but Hirschfeld collapsed to make the save. Then the next half hour saw no good chances either way, but seven substitutions.

86' Jefferson-Dow (McNeley). A pair of Seattle substitutes combined for the late score as Evan McNeley's corner kick was sent low to the near post, where Jefferson-Dow managed to poke it past a pair of defenders Hirschfeld, the ball trickling over the line. 1-2 Calgary.

Seattle had one last chance in the 90th as Somoza's corner kick hooked through the goal area, just out of reach of Hirschfeld's hands and just out of reach of a pair of attackers' heads, then harmlessly over the line for a goal kick.
