Match report from the Sounders:

The Seattle Sounders Women traveled to Vancouver on Sunday and came away with a 3-1 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps Women's team. The win was the first for the Sounders women in Vancouver and also marked the first time the Vancouver women were beaten at home.

Janelle Munnis, credited with scoring the first goal in Seahawks Stadium on July 28, 2002, got the Sounders on the board in the 11th minute. She received a nice ball from Brenda Mueller and beat Whitecaps keeper Michele Gademans.

Mueller got her second assist of the match two minutes later. She pushed a loose ball to Nikki Gamble who calmly rolled a shot into the empty net.

Kara Lang, Canadian National Team member, got the Whitecaps' lone goal in the 23rd minute. She scored on a penalty kick after a Sounder handled the ball.

The Sounders women rounded out the scoring, which was done all in the first half. Wynne McIntosh roofed a penalty kick after Sophie Spilborghs took down Brenda Mueller in front of the net.

"We played a solid game, it's good to get a win," said Sounders Women head coach Dick McCormick. "Vancouver has a great team so that makes it even more special to have beaten them."

The Sounders Women start their 2003 home schedule this Sunday, May 18th against the Arizona Heatwave. Kick off is set for 2 pm at Seahawks Stadium.

Sunday's game is 2 for 1 Ticket Day. Fans arriving at Seahawks Stadium prior to the 2 pm kick-off will receive two tickets for the price of one. Ticket prices range from $12-$22.
