Match report by Ron Stickney:

The Sounders opened their preseason with a 4-0 win over the Liga Hispana All-Stars. Sean-Michael Callahan had the honor of first goal, and it came early. Craig Tomlinson notched a pair in the second half and Jake Vaughn, a trialist who played for the Portland Timbers last season, got one.

A surprise playing for the Liga Hispana All-Stars was Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar, arguably the Portland Timbers' best midfielder last year. Alcaraz-Cuellar made it into the stats with a yellow card late in the match for kicking the ball away before a Sounders free kick.

4' Callahan (Brown). Callahan's speed on the left wing gave him a chance from the opening kickoff that was stopped, but in the 4th minute he was sprung by Chad Brown's long diagonal pass and was in alone against goalkeeper Marcelo Fernandez. Callahan finished clinically from 15 yards straight out after drawing Fernandez out. 1-0 Seattle.

In the opening minute of the second half Chad Brown came very close with a hard shot that hit the underside of the crossbar, rebounded straight down onto the line, and jumped away from goal.

60' Tomlinson. The corner kick from the right was taken by Tomlinson, and he bent in a beauty that had eyes for the slot between Fernandez' fingertips and the crossbar. 2-0 Seattle. Tomlinson had put one in the net 3 minutes earlier when he finished the leftovers from a yard after a block, but he had been offside then.

Husky senior Danny Waltman took over for #1 goalkeeper Preston Burpo in the 65th minute.

At 67' Todo Barajas came closest for Liga, carrying along the 18-yard line to the right end of the arc and shooting hard at the lower right corner, but hitting the wrong side of the post.

74' Vaughn (Arzate). The ball was passed from the right side of the penalty area square to Memo Arzate near the penalty spot. Arzate could have tried to get free for a shot, but instead he dished a short pass on to Vaughn, who fired straight and true. 3-0 Seattle.

82' Tomlinson (Bellal). Fawzi Bellal's pass sprang Tomlinson from the left middle, and the speedster was free into the penalty area and sent a low ball past the charging 'keeper to the center of the net. 4-0 Seattle.
