Match report from the Sounders:

The Seattle Sounders Women welcomed the San Diego Gauchos to Qwest Field tonight for their last match of the 2005 season. With two goals for midfielder Malia Arrant the Women record their fifth win of the season as they defeated the Gauchos 5-0.

The match started out with the Sounders Women dominating. In the first three minutes the Women have had two prime opportunities to score. Malia Arrant and Nicole Garbin had been threatening to the Gaucho defense with a shot apiece.

Again on the attack in the sixth minute, forward Hillary Heath crossed the ball in front of the open San Diego goal, but no one was able to capitalize and Gaucho's goalkeeper Sophia Perez came up with the save.

From 30 yards out Sarah Groves rocketed a shot into the hands of diving Gaucho's 'keeper Perez in the 11th minute.

Chalise Baysa blasted a shot from 15 yards out on the right side of the goal face as she missed just wide of the far post in the 12th minute.

In the 19th minute the Gauchos had an opportunity to score when a foul was called on Sounders defender Sarah Groves just outside the top of the 18-yard box. Nicole James of the Gauchos took the free kick that slammed into the legs of the five man Sounders Women wall.

On the counterattack Malia Arrant dribbled around two Gauchos defenders, faked to the left and shot the ball into the lower right corner of the net to give the Sounders Women a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute.

The Sounders Women dominated play in the first half as they out shot the Gauchos 18-0 and took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

Just after the second half began, Amy Carnell continued the Sounders Women offensive pressure as she took a shot on goal from 15 yards out, rebounded her own shot off a Gauchos defender, then shot again from 10 yards out placing the ball into the back left corner of the net, giving the Sounders Women a 2-0 lead in the 52nd minute.

In the 82nd minute Victoria Crandall had the first shot of the match for the visiting Gauchos. Amy Carnell, who moved to the 'keeper position at the 64th minute, was credited with the save.

In the 85th minute Sounders forward Nicole Garbin beat two Gaucho defenders with her skillful ball work and speed. Garbin netted the third goal of the match and her fifth goal of the season.

In the 88th minute Janelle Munnis passed a ball to Arrant 30 yards out from the Gauchos goal. Arrant once again dribbled through the San Diego defense and slotted her second goal of the match and the Sounders Women's fourth goal of the night.
