Match report from the Sounders:

The Seattle Sounders Women battled against the Lady Cougars of Denver for the first time in 2005. In a long, hard fought, even match the women of Seattle slipped in the 102nd minute to the Cougars, losing 2-1. This match was the second of a three game road trip for the Women as they fell 3-2 to the Mile High Mustangs on Thursday night.

In the 13 minute the Lady Cougars pressed hard on the Sounders Women and recorded the first goal of the match. Midfielder Kristen Kemp scored her fourth goal of the season from Megan Flanagan, who recorded her first assist of the season.

At half time the Cougars were leading 1-0. The Seattle Women came out hard on the attack which resulted in a goal by midfielder Kelli Smith in the 52 minute.

At the end of regulation the scored was tied 1-1. United Soccer Leagues (USL) rules for W-League overtime is two, 10 minute overtime period, golden goal winner.

In the first overtime period forward Amy Carnell came close to sealing the victory when she attempted a bicycle kick that flew just over the Cougars cross bar.

In the 102 minute Megan Flanagan netted the game winner from Kristen Kemp. With the goal the overtime period was over. Denver now hoist into first place in the Western Conference of the USL W-League.
