Match report from the Sounders:

The Sounders hosted the club's 4th Annual Kids Day at Qwest Field on July 6th, battling Tacoma FC (PDL) to a 2-1 victory. The Sounders were cheered on by nearly 1,000 kids from youth clubs and organizations from as far away as Bellingham and Tacoma.

The Sounders scored early, capitalizing on set play opportunities. Forward Craig Tomlinson headed a Ben Somoza corner kick into the net to put the Sounders on the board. Then late in the game Andrew Gregor sent a corner into the box connecting with Roger Levesque to secure the Sounders victory.

Match report from the Tacoma FC:

In the beginning and at the end it was Tacoma FC putting on a show at Qwest Field during Kids Day 2006. However in the middle the Seattle Sounders dominated, and eventually won, 2-1.

Steven Spencer's goal with just minutes remaining pulled the Tacoma PDL club to within a goal after the Sounders had led 2-0 on goals by Craig Tomlinson and Roger Levesque. In the final flurry Tacoma had a goal taken away by a sliding goal-mouth clearance by Santa Maria Rivera.

Tacoma FC had also begun the match well with a spurt that forced two straight early corner kicks. In the middle the Seattle Sounders showed their dominance with the goals and numerous shots. Seattle outshot Tacoma in the 90-minute match 19-9 (Three 30 minute sections were played with short breaks in between for kids activities).
