Running match report from the Sounders FC blog:
It's quite warm (low 80s) with and refreshing breeze at the backs of Sounders FC, who will be attacking to the east.
Seattle is wearing all rave green while CED is stripped in dark blue.
Seattle lineup: Chris Eylander; Zach Scott, Tyson Wahl, Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, Evan Brown; Michael Fucito, Ryan Caugherty, Stephen King, Roger Levesque; Jeff Clark, Fredy Montero.
And we're underway here at Cancha #1 at the Argetinos Juniors training ground.
1-Brown feeds Levesque down the right channel but his ball pops easily to the CED keeper.
3-CED set in a 3-5-2, like Estudiantes yesterday; Seattle in 4-4-2.
5-Wind has switched and gotten stronger, going across the field.
8-King earns a corner; Levesque's corner is deflected on to the far post where Montero takes a touch but his shot from 10 is immediately blocked.
11-CED seeing the majority of the ball, stringing together.
14-King earns a corner; Levesque's ball deflected on to the far post where Montero's 10-yard shot is blocked by the defender.
16-Swift counter by CED, with #11 timing his run to get under a ball and force Eylander to a leaping save at the right post; out for a corner.
17-Corner headed harmlessly over the bar.
24-Levesque is given space at 30 yards out; hits a low strike which the CED keeper saves at the right post, then gets up to gather.
28-Montero free kick from left wing is nodded out to King at the top of the box; his drive sails just over the bar.
30-ESPN TV crew and an MLSnet reporter here to watch this closed training game.
31-After controlling possession for much of the first half, Seattle is getting its share of touches now.
33-Hurtado is not timid; he's winning headers and quickly stepping in to win 50-50 balls in his own third.
34-From a CED corner, #11 lashes a 20 yard shot just left of Eylander's post.
34-Caugherty takes a touch out top and goes to the left post; keeper bobbles, then grabs.
35-There's the whistle.
HALFTIME: CED 0, Sounders FC 0.
OK, after securing the internet connection at the last minute, we get a breather and a chance to cover some notes.
1) This training game and all 5 training games in Argentina are 3x35 (70 minutes).
2) Today there are a couple new faces on the Sounders FC bench across the way: Ely Allen (former UW All-American MF and played 12 games for the Galaxy last season) and a guest player, Diego Ferreira, a young member of the Tigres reserves. Allen just arrived prior to the lunch hour so it's questionable whether he will see time. He was waived by L.A. earlier in the week and flew from there overnight.
3) CED is based in Rosario, a 4-hour drive north of Buenos Aires.
4) Huracan, the club which Sounders FC will go see play Boca Juniors on Sunday, is headquartered less than a mile from the Argentinos Juniors grounds here.
Seattle lineup change at the break: guest player Diego Ferreira replaces Fucito on left side.
37-CED awarded a free kick on the right edge of the box after Caugherty brings down #14; kick probably wind-aided as it sails harmlessly wide right.
39-Ferreira steals the ball just outside the CED box but his pass to Clark goes inside when Clark broke wide.
40-Ferreira sees YELLOW after hard tackle near midfield.
41-Seems like payback on the next 50-50 ball as Hurtado is crunched from behind; no card.
43-GOOOOOOOOOAL!!!! Ferreira is set-up perfectly by Montero and scores from 15 straight away into the upper left corner. Montero had gotten the ball up the right from Brown, then drew an extra defender and the keeper's attention to the left of the box before squaring his pass. Sounders FC 1, CED 0.
45-Levesque wearing the captain's armband today.
46-Much like Friday, Seattle looks much more settled after getting a briefing from Coach Schmid at the half. Much more composed in all facets & it's been awhile since the Argentines have had their way with the ball.
48-No sooner wrote that and CED launches back-to-back forays down the left. Hurtado again with the sturdy block tackle in the box, then Wahl deflects the next cross, enabling Eylander to easily gather.
50-CED getting way too much room up Route 1. Two more sudden breaks with Hurtado and Wahl just nicking away the ball as shooters approach the top of the box on a dead run.
52-PENALTY AWARDED TO CED. Another counter and Wahl sends attacker to the turf deep in the box.
53-GOAL: #11 of CED sends Eylander right and SCORES down the middle; CED 1, Sounders FC 1.
54-SUBSTITUTION: Allen replaces Montero before play restarts.
56-Allen playing outside right; Levesque moves up front with Clark.
58-Allen chips into Clark at the arc, forces CED to clear off the left attacking sideline.
63-CED #9 shakes and bakes on the right side of the box and forces excellent save from Eylander to keeper's right; Hurtado protects the open net, blocking #11's rebound while Eylander prone.
65-Levesque and Allen over the ball on the right. Free kick is headed down by Scott at left post but CED defenders clear.
66-Nice little short passing exchange by Sounders nearly springs Clark steaming in from the left. Offside :(
68-Brown cross forces a corner. Brown takes inswinger from left corner but its headed into touch.
68-Ferrerya pops high ball into the box and Levesque times his run perfectly but his flick is weak and gathered by the CED keeper.
Only a couple minutes left.
69-Hurtado goes down, allowing #11 CED to streak by and pepper Eylander with a shot from 20; he easily saves with a clutch to his chest.
69-Hurtado back up and moving fine.
71-We're getting a bit of added time by the man in black.
Whistle blows with Sounders FC pressing.
FINAL: CED 1, Sounders FC 1.
Seattle scoring the opener on guest player Ferreira; CED pulling even on the PK.
