Match report based on the Sounders news release:

The Seattle Sounders met Salem, Oregon's Cascade Surge halfway with a match in Vancouver, Washington. The Surge will compete against the Seattle Sounders Selects in the USL's Premier Development League (PDL, Division IV). The Sounders won the match 4-0 with goals from Scott Jenkins, Viet Nguyen, Kieran Barton and Troya Cowell. Bill May and Preston Burpo split the goalkeeping duties evenly for a combined shutout.
 
First Half

Jenkins set up a good chance at 11' with a long cross for Justin Stoddard to run onto, but Stoddard's header went over the crossbar.

Jenkins scored in the 30th when he ran onto Scott Cannon's 40-yard cross and headed it into the top right corner.

Cannon was just over with a 25-yard free kick just before the half.

Nguyen took a 22-yard free kick that beat Cascade goalkeeper Glenn Rogers in the 44th.
 
Halftime: Seattle 2 - 0 Cascade

Barton gave Craig Waibel a chance with a cross at 53'. Waibel's shot was just over the goal.

Ian Russell served a pass to Nguyen for a 15-yard shot, but Rogers made the diving save.

Barton scored at 74' after collecting a failed Cascade clearance and shooting from 15 yards out. Rogers almost stopped the shot but the rebound trickled in.

For the Surge, Benje Orozco tried a half volley that went wide left and Matt Wheaton's 15-yarder forced a save by Burpo.

The final goal came after Russell was fouled in the penalty area and was rewarded with a penalty kick. Cowell's PK was deflected off the crossbar by Rogers, then Cowell ran onto the rebound and headed it home at 87'.
