Based on the Sounders' match report:

The Seattle Sounders were defeated 1-0 by the Spokane Shadow in a USL exhibition match played before 1,702 at Joe Albi Stadium in Spokane, WA. Forward Jeff McAllister scored the match's only goal in the 42nd minute on a half-volley from Brian Ching's cross.

The Spokane Shadow are a top team in the USL's PDL division (US division IV). If Spokane win their first-round US Open Cup match at Chico (CA) on June 16, Spokane will meet the Sounders again in a Cup match.

The Sounders roster was depleted by injuries, with the team missing seven players, six of them starters: Scott Jenkins (foot), Troya Cowell (personal), Ian Russell (injury), Mark Baena (called up to San Jose Clash), Jason Annicchero (flu), Randy Mann (groin), and non-starter Christian Michner (ACL). Guest players Kyle Godat and Travis Pozega joined the Sounders.

The Sounders defeated the Shadow 1-0 in 1998 in an exhibition match, also played in Spokane.
