The Seattle Sounders came from behind to tie the Orange County Waves 2-2 in Santa Ana, CA. Sounders rookie midfielder Greg Howes (from Tacoma) scored the match-tying goal in the 87th minute.

Orange County scored first on a Jason Boyce goal in the 12th minute. Seattle tied the score on an own-goal off the foot of Waves defender Peter Lak in the 43rd minute. The Sounders lost a player when forward Rashid Utush was ejected in the 60th minute for his second yellow card.

The Waves capitalized playing up a man when Gustavo Leal scored in the 73rd minute. That goal gave Orange County a 2-1 lead, setting up Howes' heroic goal.
