Match report based on the Sounders Select report:

In a must win match, the Seattle Sounders Select defeated the Spokane Shadow 3-0 at Joe Albi Stadium in Spokane.  The victory keeps the Select's slim playoff hopes alive.

Seattle needed to win tonight, and need Spokane to lose tomorrow against Abbotsford and the Central Coast Roadrunners to lose tonight. Chad Brown scored the match winner in the 27th minute from an assist by Chris Farnsworth.

Seattle got all the scoring they would need in the 27th minute. Seattle dumped the ball into the Spokane penalty area. The Shadow could not clear. Select midfielder Chris Farnsworth got control of the ball in the six yard box. Farnsworth's shot deflected off Spokane goalkeeper Brian Mullen to Select forward Chad Brown, who was able to head the ball in for a goal.

The Select increased their lead in the 54th minute when Nick Downing converted a penalty kick. Select forward Joe Watson was fouled in the penalty box setting up the penalty kick. On the kick, Downing shot to his right, beating Mullen.

The Select put the match out of reach at 3-0 when Sean Sylvis scored his first goal for Seattle in the 56th minute. Right after the PK, Spokane could not clear the ball from their end. Sylvis stole the ball and dribbled in from the outside the penalty area and let go a low shot from 20 yards that beat Mullen to his left.

Seattle goalkeeper Chad Olsen made 4 saves to record the shutout. Spokane's best scoring chance came in the 16th minute when midfielder Tim Seely's hard shot was stopped on a diving save by Olsen.

Seattle finished the regular season with an 11-1-6 (W-D-L) record.
