Match report based on the Sounders Select report:

The Seattle Sounders Select scored a late goal to defeat the Yakima Reds 1-0 in a PDL match played in Yakima, WA. Select midfielder Ben Somoza scored the match-winning goal in the 83rd minute. Somoza's goal was his second match winner in two nights.

The goal came after a Yakima foul outside the penalty area. On the resulting Select free kick, Matt Lund's shot was deflected. The ball went to Somoza who was able to get past a defender and take a shot that found the bottom right corner of the net.

Like the game the previous night against Cascade this was a physical match, with the teams combining for 38 fouls. Select goalkeeper Jonas Tanzer made 7 saves to earn the shutout.

Injury problems continue to plague the Select. Midfielder Mark Hogenhout and defender Scott Burcar were both injured today. Sounders forward Joe Watson had an emergency appendectomy yesterday. Forward Ian Chursky left last night's match early with an injured quad muscle.

The Sounders Select are now 5-0-0 in league play and 6-0-1 overall counting a pair of US Open Cup qualifiers.
