Match summary from Seattle Sounders Select Women:

A Tara Bilanski goal was the difference as the Seattle Sounders Select Women defeated the Portland Rain, 1-0, in a W-League game played in suburban Portland, Saturday night. The Select Women are unbeaten in their last six matches, going 4-2-0 during that time.

Bilanski took a pass from midfielder Michelle Zentz and hit a rocket from 25 yards out. Her shot zoomed past the Rain goalkeeper Ruth Montgomery for the match's only goal, in the 40th minute.

Select Women's goalkeeper Lindsey Jorgensen made six  saves to record the shutout. Seattle have won both meetings over Portland this season.

Seattle moves into a tie for first place in the Western Conference with the Vancouver Breakers with 27 points. The Select Women's play their next three games at home, starting with the Vancouver Breakers on July 15 at Issaquah High School, at 5 pm. Portland is a provisional member of the W-League.

Post Match Quotes: Sounders Select Women Head Coach Chance Fry:
"We were able to control the game from the start. The women had an outstanding work rate. Bilanski hit a great shot for her goal. I thought several of our players had outstanding games. Starters (Jen) Birks, (Nicole) Martinez with Katie (Miyake) off the bench all were exceptional. We're on a little roll right now, which is great."
