The Seattle Sounders Select Women defeated the Arizona Heatwave 2-0. Select Women's midfielder Michelle Zentz scored the match-winning goal in the 21st minute.

Zentz began the scoring in the 21st minute when she received a short pass from midfielder Joanie Gerpheide. Gerpheide was able to track down a long pass from the midfield. Gerpheide then slipped a pass just out of the reach Arizona goalkeeper Ann Marie Hubbard to Zentz, who tapped the ball into the unguarded net.

The second goal came in the 32nd minute on a shot from Rachel Rodrick. Rodrick's powerful shot was taken from about 35 yards out and beat the outstretched Hubbard by sailing into the top right corner of the goal.

The Sounders Select Women had 30 shots on goal versus Arizona's seven. Select Women's goalkeeper Lindsey Jorgensen made three saves to record the shutout.

Player of the match for the Sounders Select Women was defender Tari Beck. Beck was the anchor for the defense and played all 90 minutes in the Select Women's shutout effort.
