The Seattle Sounders Select Women (W-League) defeated the Arizona Heatwave, 2-0, in a game played Saturday night at the Peoria Sports Complex in Phoenix, Arizona.

Nicole Martinez scored the game-winning goal for Seattle in the 48th minute when she blasted a hard shot into the top right corner for her first goal of the season. Midfielder Rachel Rodrick added an insurance goal in the 80th minute when she shot and scored to the upper left corner. Select goalkeeper Lindsey Jorgensen made seven saves to earn the shutout.

With the victory, the Select women improve to 1-1 on the season. Arizona is 0-2. Seattle again plays Arizona on Monday evening in Peoria, AZ.
