Mueller's hat trick leads Sounders Women over Force

(Fort Collins, CO) - - In the middle of a six-match road stretch the Sounders Women came back from their first loss of the season with a commanding 5-1 victory over the Fort Collins Force. Sounders Women forward Brenda Mueller scored three goals in the contest, giving her the first hat trick of the season for the club.

Seattle started the game off strong, scoring three unanswered goals in the first 30 minutes. Midfielder Michelle French or Mueller were involved in all three first half goals. French scored in the 16th minute, Mueller in the 22nd minute and French assisted Mueller's second goal in the 29th minute.

The Force would respond in the 34th minute when forward Jayme Beamer scored. It was only the sixth goal Sounders Women goalkeeper Meghan Miller has given up all season.

Mueller would put the game out of reach in the 84th minute when she scored her third goal of the night, increasing her goal total to eight, which is among the best in the W-League.

In the closing minutes of the game, forward Erin Redwine sealed the Sounders victory with a goal in the 88th minute. Redwine has scored two goals in two matches. With the win the Sounders Women are now 4-1-1, 13pts, putting them just a few points behind the first place Heatwave (5-0-0, 15pts).

The next game for the Sounders Women is Monday, June 14th against the Devner Lady Cougars (1-1-2, 4pts).
