Match report from the Whitecaps:

The Whitecaps finished their preseason campaign with a comfortable 3-1 win over the defending league champion Seattle Sounders. The Caps took control early, scoring twice in the first eight minutes as defender Adrian Cann and striker Jason Jordan both found the mark. Forward Corey Woolfolk made it 3-0 in the second half, before Seattle scored a late goal. It was the first goal of the preseason for all three Vancouver scorers. The Whitecaps preseason record finishes at 5-1.

Vancouver’s next game is their much anticipated home opener on Saturday, April 22, against the visiting Portland Timbers in a 7:00PM start at Swangard Stadium.

Scoring Summary

2' Adrian Cann (Alfredo Valente)
Valente's corner kick from the right skipped off the turf to Cann who nodded the ball home.

8' Jason Jordan (Geordie Lyall)
Lyall made a strong run down the right flank and found Jordan just outside the six yard box. Jordan one-timed it past the keeper.

71' Corey Woolfolk (Dave Morris)
Morris cut in from the right, his shot was partially blocked and Woolfolk ran on and cleverly redirected it past the goalkeeper.

87' Jacob Besagno
A loose ball from a Seattle corner kick was fired in by defender Besagno.

Game Notes

Whitecaps Goalkeeper Josh Wicks made a great save at 34' as he pushed a powerful header from defender Jacob Besagno against the crossbar.

Recap from the Sounders:

The Seattle Sounders lost 3-1 to the Vancouver Whitecaps in exhibition play at Exhibition Park in Chilliwack, B.C. Defender Jake Besagno's late second half goal finally put the Sounders on the board. Sounders' roster players started the match, but the exhibition game was a true test for the younger players hoping to make the 2006 roster. "For a lot of these younger guys it was their final test," said Brian Schmetzer, Head Coach of the Sounders. "Overall we played pretty well, it was a good test against another solid USL First Division opponent. It really helped all of us see what we need to do in this next week to prepare for the season."
