Match report from the Sounders:

The Seattle Sounders, in the middle of their last three-game road trip of the 2006 season, fell to the Rochester Raging Rhinos 2-1 on Friday night at Paetec Park in Rochester.

After two Rochester corner kicks within the first three minutes of the match, the Sounders grabbed possession of the run of play. In an up and down game, the Sounders got on the board first on a set play.

Cam Weaver (14 goals, 1 assist) got his right foot on a corner kick in the 11th minute of the match and scored his league leading 14th goal. Roger Levesque (1 goal, 3 assists), who flicked the ball Weaver's way, was credited with the assist.

Rochester got on the board late in the 43rd minute courtesy of Matthew Delicâte (team leading 7th goal of the season) who made an aggressive run into the 18-yard box. A ball was served in by Kenney Bertz who picked up his first professional point with the assist.

The Rhinos nearly got the go ahead strike with less than a minute left in the first half. Johnny Menyongar spun around Kevin Sakuda and placed a beautiful ball on the foot of Connally Edozien who whiffed on his shot attempt.

The Sounders were outshot 13-2 in the first half.

Menyongar continued his dangerous pace in the early minutes of the second frame. With several Rhinos stacked at the top of the 18-yard line, a loose ball rolled to the foot of Menyongar who rifled a shot high over Eylander's goal.

A quick counter by Seattle and a botched offside trap by Rochester sprung Sounders forward Maykel Galindo at the 50 minute mark. Galindo sprinted in to the 6-yard line but was met by Rochester keeper Scott Vallow and his shot was denied.

Delicâte was in the middle of the action again in the 59th minute – his right-footed blast was met with a great save by Eylander. Stephen Keel was planted inside the 6-yard line and was able to clear away the rebound.

The Rhinos grabbed the lead in the 60th minute when Menyongar (3 goals, 2 assists) took a shot from the top of the 18-yard line. His shot was deflected but Menyongar was able to corral the loose ball and beat Eylander.

The Sounders nearly found the equalizer in the 72nd minute on a Leighton O'Brien corner kick. A dangerous bending ball found its way inside Vallow's box but three Sounders were unable to finish.

A flurry of Sounders subs couldn't square the match over the last 15 minutes of play.

The Sounders travel to Toronto for a Sunday afternoon match kicking off at 3:00 PM PT.

The next Sounders home game is August 11th against the Virginia Beach Mariners.

Notes:

Sounders forward Maykel Galindo flew to Rochester late last night in order to be at tonight's game. He left Thursday evening after an immigration hearing in Seattle and is a few steps closer to acquiring his green card. This was his first start of the regular season.

This was the Sounders' first appearance in the recently opened Paetec Park.

The Rhinos defeated the Sounders 2-1 on May 17th in Seattle.

The Sounders travel to Toronto to face the Lynx on Sunday before flying to Seattle on Monday.

Weaver's 14th goal of the year was the Sounders' league leading 27th goal of season.

After Sunday's game in Toronto, the Sounders will play the last 5 of 6 regular season matches at home.

The Sounders' next home match on August 11th against the Virginia Beach Mariners will be relocated to the Starfire Sports Complex due to natural grass removal from Qwest Field (from the Real Madrid vs. DC United match).
