Match report from the Sounders:

The Seattle Sounders picked up their first victory on the road and ended a five game losing streak, defeating the Virginia Beach Mariners 1-0 at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex. Rookie forward Cam Weaver delivered once again, scoring his seventh goal of the season in the 90th minute, apparently unassisted.

Sounders keeper Chris Eylander recorded all three of his saves in the first half, posting his fourth shutout of the season.

Serving a one-match suspension, the Sounders played without midfielder Andrew Gregor, who was ejected from the match in Miami on Sunday.

After being locked 0-0 at halftime, the Sounders took advantage of their limited scoring opportunities in the second half. With just four total shots taken and three corner kicks, the Sounders were able to generate the game-winning goal in the final minute of play.

Adding to his list of late game goals, Sounders forward Cam Weaver prevented Virginia Beach goalkeeper Matt Nelson from finishing his league leading seventh shutout. Now at seven goals on the season, Weaver is within two goals of the league's leading scorer Romario, who has nine.

The 1-0 shutout is the Sounders' first victory since May 27th when the Sounders defeated the Whitecaps 1-0. The win ended a five-game losing streak, the longest in recent franchise history.

The Sounders head to Minnesota to face the Thunder on Saturday, June 24th at 4:05 pm PST. The Sounders are 0-1-1 against the Thunder this season, losing 4-0 to the Thunder on April 23rd in Minnesota to open the season.
