Playing their second tough road game in hot weather within 48 hours, the Seattle Sounders outshot the Colorado Foxes at Mile High Greyhound Stadium, but Colorado tallied the lone goal of the game, Joey DiGiamarino's first of the year.

First Half

Seattle got a couple of early chances. Geoff Aunger's 3rd-minute cross led to a 6-yard shot by Mike Gailey, but Fernando Hernandez made the save. Neil Megson earned a shot, also saved by Hernandez.

Rookie Steve Patterson took Colorado's first good shot, but rolled it just wide.

Seattle's Peter Hattrup took a 30-yard near post shot that Hernandez tipped over the bar.

22' DiGiamarino (Demmin). Sweeper Craig Demmin carried the ball over the halfway line and sent a long pass forward to DiGiamarino, who beat Seattle keeper Dusty Hudock for what would prove to be the only goal Colorado would need. Demmin, a regular with the Trinidad & Tobago National Team, was recently added to the Colorado roster. He spent the
season with the Jackson Chargers of the USISL Premier League and was named that league's Defender of the Year.

Soon after the restart, Colorado's Stoner Tadlock shot just wide of the far post.

Seattle created several chances from the 29th minute until halftime.  Mike Gailey turned and shot from 25 yards, but was just wide. Megson aggravated a knee injury he picked up in the El Paso game and limped off at 31', replaced by Kei Kinoshita. Kieran Barton's 22-yard shot from a free kick play was blocked by the Colorado defense. Hattrup's cross set up Kinoshita for a volley, but his shot was a yard wide.

Second Half

Colorado got a golden chance to add an insurance goal when a counterattack brought several with only Bernie James back to defend.Patterson took the open shot, but Hudock made the save.

At the other end, Gailey headed on goal, but Hernandez easily saved. Midway in the half, Henry Gutierrez crossed in the air and Gailey outleaped Hernandez to head the ball on goal, but Demmin was there to clear it from the goal line. Gutierrez' 30-yard free kick was headed for the upper right corner, but Hernandez tipped it over for a corner. Hattrup headed on goal, and Hernandez saved again.

DiGiamarino set up Patterson for a good chance for the Foxes, but Patterson shot wide.

Paul Gelvezon, on for Figueroa in spite of still being sick from the flu, slid in to one-touch a shot on goal, but Hernandez easily saved. Barton sent a far-post cross to Scott Jenkins, who had open space to hit, but Jenkins headed just wide of the goal.

Patterson crossed for Nelson Pinto, on as a sub for Colorado, but Pinto's shot hit the outside of the net.

In the final minute, Gailey missed with his last shot, then Gelvezon's attempt to finish the loose ball was blocked. Seattle had outshot Colorado 12-7 in the half, but the Foxes held the 1-0 advantage at the final whistle.
