In a matchup between the 1996 USISL Select League champions and the 1996 A-League champions, the Seattle Sounders grabbed the early lead but fell to the California Jaguars 3-1.

Seattle forward Mike Gailey beat California goalkeeper Kevin Rueda to open the scoroing in the 5th minute.  But the lead would not last for long.

At 16' California forward Mark Baena finished a Richie Louis cross to tie the match.  Jerome Watson scored with a one-touch shot off a Baena cross at 34'.  Five minutes from time, Watson scored again, from six yards out to give California a 3-1 win.

Seattle's next match is the only home match in May, this Saturday against the New Orleans Riverboat Gamblers.
