Match report based on the Sounders' press release:

The Seattle Sounders defeated the Cincinnati Riverhawks 5-3 before 1,640 at Renton Memorial Stadium in the rain Friday evening.  Sounders forwards Erik Storkson and Mark Baena each scored two goals to help lead the Sounders to victory.

Seattle took a 1-0 lead on Storkson's first goal in the 33rd minute.  The Sounders extended that lead when Baena scored in the 36th minute and Storkson got his second in the 43rd minute.  Cincinnati got on the scoreboard when Simon Lowey scored in the 50th minute.  Seattle was able to put the game out of reach when Ian Russell scored the game-winning goal in the 54th minute.  Baena got his second of the game extending the lead to 5-1 in the 78th minute.  The Riverhawks did not quit and got two late goals from JT Roberts in the 82nd and Maurice Schilten in the 89th minute.  Seattle allowed the two late goals after Storkson was ejected in the 73rd minute for an incident with a Cincinnati player.

Seattle is 4-4 this season at home and remains in second place in the Pacific Division with 45 points, 21 points behind first place San Diego.  The five goal effort was the most Seattle has scored this season.  The Sounders have now won 4 of their last 5 regular season games.

Match Highlights:
3'  Heald passes to Baena, whose shot goes wide of goal.
7'  Jenkins' shot in the area is blocked away by Wanamaker.
9'  Heald sends a good midfield pass to Baena, who breaks through the defense.  His attempt from the left side goes wide of net.
11' Haitonic's free kick is saved by Burpo head-high.
19'  Lowey's header from Scheer's cross forces Burpo to a diving save.
22'  Robertson's corner kick forces Wanamaker to a diving save.
24'  Roberts shoots hard from 20 yards, but Burpo is equal to the task.
24'  Wanamaker is called for handling the ball outside the penalty area and is cautioned.  Heald's free kick is deflected clear.  The rebound falls to Baena, but is blocked away.
27'  Lowey's shot in the penalty area beats Burpo but goes off the post.  The rebound is put back on goal, but Seattle clears off the line.
33'  From the left wing, Heald crosses to Storkson who gets space between two defenders and is able to get a right-footed shot off that goes high into the right side of the net.
36'  Heald crosses to Baena, who gets the ball in traffic in front of the net.  Baena goes wide of the goalkeeper but angles the shot into the net for a goal.
43'  From the right wing, Robertson crosses to the left side of the goal area.  Storkson positioned himself in front of the net
and he slotted the cross into the right side of the net for a goal.
50'  Shilton dumps the ball from midfield into the Cincinnati attack  The ball bounces over a Sounders defender to Lowey.  Lowey is able to split the defenders and hits a bending shot that goes high into top left corner for a goal
51'  Lowey hits the top post with a hard shot from 15 yards.
54'  Storkson, with space at the edge of the penalty area, passes to Russell at the penalty spot.  Cincinnati's defender slips, which allows Russell to move in unmarked to slot the ball past Wanamaker for a goal.
73'  Storkson is sent off for allegedly spitting at a Cincinnati player.  After the match Storkson said, "I did not spit on him."
74'  Baena gets through on a breakaway, but pushes his shot just wide.
78'  Barton hits Baena with a through ball, just at the edge of the penalty area.  Baena moves in on goal on the left side.  With the goalkeeper coming out to cut down the angle, Baena shoots an angled shot past Wanamaker.
82'  Roberts takes advantage of a Sounders clearing attempt that does not get out of the Sounders defensive end.  Roberts controls the ball on the left side and slots a shot past Burpo who had come out of goal to cut down the angle.
89'  Lowey passes the ball down the right side to Shelton.  Shelton takes one dribble to just inside the penalty area and takes a low shot that skids and deflects off of Burpo into the net for a goal.
