Based on the Sounders' match report:

The Seattle Sounders were defeated by the El Paso Patriots 4-1 before 2,589 at Socorro Stadium in El Paso, TX on Friday night.  Forward Eric Wilson was the key player for El Paso, scoring two goals and assisting on the game-winner in the in the second half by Oscar Mercado in the 52nd minute.  His brother Kirk Wilson scored the first goal and added an assist.  The Sounders tied the score at 1-1 in the 24th minute when El Paso scored an own goal for the Sounders, when the ball was headed into the net by Roberto Delgado.  El Paso (6-7) got the additional second half goals from Eric Wilson in the 69th and 82nd minutes to pull away for the victory.  Ignoring the own goal and including the two recent friendly matches, no Sounder has scored in the past 5 matches.

In a situation that could only happen in the wacky US pro leagues, Kirk Wilson assisted on the first goal against the Sounders in the previous league match against the US Pro-40 Select, and he scored the first goal against the Sounders in this match. Yet his true team is neither of these sides, but rather is the MLS Dallas Burn!

Sounders forward Mark Baena did not play in this game.  He was back in the Bay Area with his wife Michelle who is expecting the birth of their child.   Scott Jenkins returned to the lineup tonight with a broken bone in his left foot after suffering the injury against Minnesota on May 29.  Recently signed midfielder Ralph Robertson made his first appearance for the Sounders.
