Match report based on the Sounders news release:

The Seattle Sounders were defeated by the Minnesota Thunder, 2-0 before 2,676 at Renton Memorial Stadium on Saturday night.  Gerard Lagos scored both goals for the Thunder in the 22nd and 88th minutes.  The Sounders pushed the play and had several good scoring chances, but were blanked for the second straight game.  Seattle had 28 shots but could not score on Thunder goalkeepers Joe Warren and John Swallen.  On both goals by Lagos, the Sounders goalkeeper Preston Burpo was caught out of position and Lagos chipped the ball over his head and into the net.  Minnesota was playing the second of back-to-back games, losing last night in Vancouver, 2-1 in overtime.  Seattle was shutout, 2-0 in their last game May 15 in San Diego.

70'  Russell's cross into the goalmouth is misjudged by Warren.  With a free ball in front of the net, Seattle fails to get off a good shot.
87'  Mladenov's shot is saved by Burpo.  Then, a Seattle backpass is misread, and Lagos intercepts.  Burpo is playing way of his line and is chipped from 25 yards.

Post-Match Quotes:
Sounders Head Coach Neil Megson
"We were able to create a lot of chances, however we didn't convert.  If you
don't convert it tough to win games.  We have to put this one behind us and
move forward to next week's game against San Francisco."

Sounders Goalkeeper Preston Burpo
"You have to give Minnesota credit.  They scored on their two good scoring
chances.  The ball bounced right to them (Lagos).  I came off my line and he
popped the ball over my head and into the net.  You have to credit them, they
pressured us the whole game."

Sounders Defender Randy Mann
"It was just one of those games.  We outplayed them for 85 minutes.  We gave
them two chances and they converted on them.  After the first goal, they
packed it in on defense and waited for chances.  If we come out with the same
effort and outshoot San Francisco next week, we will be successful."
