Second-half substitute Rashid Utush's one-goal, one-assist performance helped the Seattle Sounders defeat the Montreal Impact 3-0 in Montreal. Craig Waibel opened the scoring at 49' from a free kick cross in the penalty area by Andrew Gregor.

The second Sounders goal came in the 74th minute when Rashid Utush scored on a breakaway. The goal was set up by Rashid's brother, Ali John Utush, who sent a long pass to spring Rashid Utush in on goal.

Greg Howes put the match out of reach when he scored in the 87th minute, assisted by Rashid Utush. Sounders goalkeeper Bill May recorded five saves to get the shutout victory.

This was the eighth straight time that Seattle has defeated Montreal dating back to the 1994 season. Seattle completed their three-match road trip with a record of 1-1-1.
