Rochester scored the match-winning goal in the 56th minute. Forward Mickey Trotman took a shot from close range to left of Sounders goalkeeper Preston Burpo. The shot was blocked by Burpo and the rebound came Mladenov. Mladenov's shot attempt deflected off Sounders defender Kieran Barton back to Mladenov. Mladenov dished a pass to his left to a wide-open Wilson, who shot and scored on a right footed shot from 18 yards away.
Rochester scored first in the 34th minute. The Rhinos had a restart outside of the Sounders penalty area after a Sounders foul. Mladenov sent a cross into the six-yard box. Midfielder Lenin Steencamp was able to out jump the Sounders defenders and head the ball into the goal from seven yards out.
The Sounders scored their only goal in the 80th minute from Brian Ching, on loan from the Los Angeles Galaxy. The Sounders played a through ball to Ching who went in on goal alone. Ching's point-blank shot was blocked by Rhinos goalkeeper Scott Vallow. The rebound came to Ching who shot and scored on his follow-up shot between two Rochester defenders.
Rochester goalkeeper Scott Vallow made two saves to get the victory. The Rhinos outshot the Sounders 21 to 6.
