Match report Ron Stickney, because I'm too lazy...:
The goal was a beauty. Derek Crothers collected a pass in the middle of the field 30 yards from goal, dribbled toward the right touchline, turned back toward the middle when challenged, and chipped a ball toward the penalty mark when he saw Shawn Medved making a run from midfield. Medved leaped to head the ball over the defender and goalkeeper and into the top left corner of the goal.

In the 8th minute, there was a bad collision as NY keeper Oshaniyi, Sounder Gary Heale's head, and the ball all met simultaneously. With both players staying down, the referee killed play just as Shawn Medved shot into the open net - no goal was allowed.

In the 22nd minute, Oshaniyi had to backpedal to just barely push over the crossbar a ball that appeared to me to have been misheaded by a NY defender. Oshaniyi took a hard fall on that play.

At 35 minutes, Oshaniyi made the game's best save, diving to push wide Jason Dunn's far-post shot from a free kick play.

Three minutes after the Sounders scored, NY almost tied the game as a hard shot from the right side went just over the crossbar.

I was very impressed with New York's play in all areas of the pitch. I was also impressed with several Sounders who normally don't play much, mainly defender Doug Morrill and midfielders Jason Farrell and Derek Crothers. Three Sounders were serving a one-game suspension after earning their third yellow cards of the season the previous game in Montreal - Chance Fry and All-Stars Peter Hattrup and Neil Megson.
