Montreal Impact 0 - 1 Seattle Sounders

McCormick (S) 86'

Match report by the Seattle PI:
The Seattle Sounders, playing their second road match in three days, shut out the Montreal Impact 0-1 last night at Claude-Robillard Stadium. Seattle (4-1-1, W-SW-L) remains first in the A-League with 13 points.

Dick McCormick, A-League Player of the Week last week, hit the game winner after Chance Fry lined up a 20-yard free kick with four minutes to play. Fry fooled the Impact defense by pushing the ball to McCormick, who was waiting just inside the Montreal area. McCormick's 15-yard blast beat goalkeeper Paolo Ceccarelli into the right side of the net.

The Sounders shook off the effects of a 1-1 shootout win over Rochester Friday night to claim the win over last season's regular-season champs. Seattle is -0 all-time against the Impact.

"We were very, very tired coming in - it took us about 20 minutes to get it going," said Sounder player/coach Neil Megson. "But then we really started knocking the ball around well."

With the assist, Fry continues his pursuit of Jean Harbor's career scoring mark of 166 points. Fry trails by three points. Fry also remains this year's A-League scoring leader with 14 points (6 goals, 2 assists) after six matches. He has scored at least a point in each of the six.
