Dec 30 - SounderCentral recaps the 2006 season: No sequel.

Dec 18 - League top scorer and rookie of the year Cam Weaver is headed for Norway, sold to FK Haugesund of the Norwegian 1st Division. That puts the Sounders back in the market for a forward.

Dec 15 - Today's USL news release looks ahead to the 2007 season. The 1st Div grows to 13 teams with the self-relegation of the Toronto Lynx and the addition of newcomers Carolina RailHawks (Cary, NC) and California Victory (San Francisco). Playoffs will expand to 8 teams, with 2-match series for all rounds except the championship match. Re-seeding will take place after the first round.

Sep 29 - As was widely expected, Cam Weaver was named USL First Division Rookie of the Year today. Getting the award for Most Valuable Player was another Washington native, Joey Gjertsen from Tacoma, who will play for the Vancouver Whitecaps in tomorrow's league championship match. News release: USL. A Sounders release also mentions that Nate Boyden is currently with the Chivas USA reserve team.

Sep 20 - As expected, Cam Weaver was announced as one of three finalists for the league Rookie of the Year award. He is also a finalist for Most Valuable Player. The USL site has the complete list of finalists. Weaver has apparently signed with the Colorado Rapids for the rest of the MLS season, as he recently played for their reserve team.

Sep 15 - Defender Jake Besagno has apparently been loaned to MLS' Real Salt Lake for the rest of the season, joining his brother Nik.

Sep 13 - Named to the 2006 USL First Division All-League First Team were midfielder Andrew Gregor and rookie forward Cam Weaver.

Sep 11 - Cam Weaver was announced as sharing the USL First Division Scoring Champion award with Miami's Romario as both players finished with 18 goals. Both players had 3 assists and also share the award for Scoring Champion.

Sep 10 - After the last matches of the league's regular season, the Sounders settled out in 7th place, a point short of the playoffs. The Sounders finished with a record of 11W-4D-13L, their first losing season in the APSL/A-League/USL era, dating back to 1994. This is just the second time in the APSL/A-League/USL era that the Sounders have missed the playoffs.

Aug 30 - Another player from the Sounders' 2005 championship team has signed with MLS. Surprisingly, it is Josh Hansen, a rookie last year who played for the Sounders only in friendly and preseason matches. Hansen signed with the Los Angeles Galaxy as a developmental player.

Aug 19 - With a 2-0 win over the Vancouver Whitecaps, the Sounders claimed the Cascadia Cup for 2006. The Cascadia is a fan-originated cup for the winner of the Portland-Seattle-Vancouver matches in league play. The cup was originated in 2004 and won by Vancouver the first two years.

Jul 20 - Ben Dragavon has been added to the roster as a backup goalkeeper. Last year Dragavon played for Western Washington University.

Jul 12 - The Sounders were knocked out of the US Open Cup by an amateur (PDL) side, the Carolina Dynamo, by a score of 3-2.

Apr 22 - The Sounders filled up their roster, announcing the re-signing of defender Jacob Besagno, the acquisition on loan of goalkeeper David Mahoney from the Chicago Fire, and the signing of rookies Chris Eylander (goalkeeper), Seyi Abolaji (defender), Cameron Weaver (midfielder), and Santa Maria Rivera (midfielder).

Apr 14 - Midfielder Jake Sagare signed on for another season.

Apr 13 - Defender Danny Jackson had successful knee surgery for a torn meniscus and is expected to miss 2-6 weeks.

Apr 10 - The club announced that Craig Tomlinson will return. New to the side are defensive midfielder Nate Boyden and defender Noah Merl.

Apr 1 - The Sounders announced the addition of attacking midfielder Jamal Sutton, who played two seasons for the Columbus Crew.

Mar 31 - The Sounders announced the re-signing of Cuban forward Maikel Galindo.

Mar 23 - The Sounders announced the re-signing of midfielder Andrew Gregor.

Mar 22 - Defender/midfielder Kevin Sakuda has been signed for his fourth season with the Sounders.

Mar 17 - The Sounders announced that goalkeeper Preston Burpo and forward/midfielder Brent Whitfield have signed with MLS club Chivas USA.

Feb 15 - The Sounders announced the re-signing of forward Roger Levesque.

Feb 10 - Jason Farrell returns to the Sounders as an assistant coach.

Jan 30 - The Sounders announced the return of goalkeeper Preston Burpo, midfielder Leighton O'Brien, and defender Danny Jackson.

Jan 25 - Sounders college draft picks were forward Bobby McAlister from Seattle University and goalkeeper Chris Eylander from the University of Washington.
